The leaflet contains details of the full walk together with two options which reduce the walk to around 6.5 or 5 miles.

The full walk is around 8.5 miles but there are two options to reduce the length to 6.5 miles (which results in a lower-level walk) or further to 5 miles (by cutting out a trip to Cave Dale). The full walk does involve some fairly stiff climbing after about 1.5 miles, then later, but less so, along the ridge.

Leave the coach park on the footpath in the NE corner, exiting into Millbridge and turning left. Millbridge changes onto Hollowford Road, continue past the Cemetery and turn right at Hollowford Centre ont o Robinlands Lane. After 350 yards continue straight ahead onto the footpath.

Cross the fields to join the track at the Youth Hostel and continue ahead to Spring House Farm. At Spring House Farm turn left and the right past the stables (signposted Footpath) and continue ahead on the footpath for approximately half a mile until you reach a footpath junction.

At footpath junction, turn left uphill towards Lose Hill Farm.

At Lose Hill Farm turn right, then after 175 yards, turn left onto the ridge (this is a good opportunity for a refreshment stop). Climb the ridge to the summit, approximately 45 minutes of climbing where you can deservedly enjoy the views.

At the summit turn left and continue along the ridge to Mam Tor - just over 3km. Mam Tor is a good place for a refreshment stop.

At Mam Tor follow the ridge footpath down to the road, joining the road on a bend, just south of the brow of the hill.

The path the continues ahead, across a field, to join another road.

At this road, go left and immediately right onto a footpath. After 500 yards exit onto the road, turning right and immediately left onto an uphill track. Continue on this track for approximately half a mile, past Rowter Farm to a T-junction at the end. Turn left and then, after 150 metres, left again down a well-marked footpath into Cave Dale.

Descend Cave Dale to a road. The path is strewn with loose rocks which may be wet and slippery, care should be taken and the descent may be slow.

When you reach the road, turn left. Keep left at triangle then turn right into Castle Street. At the end of Castle Street turn left, continue over river bridge then right into the coach park where the walk started.
